As you may have heard, the Royal Canadian Mint made its last penny today! Starting February 4th, the Canadian penny will be phased out of circulation. http://www.fin.gc.ca/1cent/index-eng.asp
Although the penny is still legal tender, many businesses will stop accepting the penny in their cash transactions, including Oseredok Boutique (see below).
So...what to do with all those pennies in your kitchen jars, wallets, sofa corners, and coat pockets?
Bring them to Oseredok and drop them into our "Pennies for Our Future" collection jar!
Every penny collected will be earmarked for the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Foundation, which serves as an endowment fund for the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre, with the sole purpose of supporting Oseredok's operations in perpetuity.
Every penny collected in our Pennies for Our Future campaign will support the long-term financial sustainability of Oseredok!
OSEREDOK BOUTIQUE IS PREPARED FOR THE PENNY PHASE OUT
Beginning Monday, February 4th anyone shopping at Oseredok Boutique using cash will have their total rounded up or down, according to government guidelines. Debit and credit card transactions will not be impacted.
We encourage everyone to drop their pennies into the Pennies for Our Future jar in support of the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Foundation!
