A SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS!

The Board of Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre is proud to announce that Sophia Kachor, Executive Director and Chief of Collections, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal during a special ceremony held at Oseredok on Friday, February 8, 2013.

The honour was given to Sophia in recognition of her outstanding contribution and dedicated service to the Ukrainian community in Canada.

In addition to her role as Executive Director of Oseredok, Sophia is a member of the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko Board of Directors, Chair of the Board of Directors of North Winnipeg Credit Union, and Past Board member of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress - National. Sophia has also been actively involved with the Plast Ukrainian Youth Association for many years on the local, national, and international levels.

Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress - National, presented the award to Ms Kachor on behalf of the Governor General of Canada.

Congratulations Sophia, for this well-deserved award!

Traveling to Ukraine can be both an exhilarating and daunting experience!
UKRAINIAN FOR TRAVELERS is a language course designed to ease you into the mysteries of Cyrillic letters, allowing you to read Ukrainian signage, as well as provide you with those basic "need to know for survival" phrases in Ukrainian to ease some of your anxiety about communicating with the natives!

This course runs for three weeks, Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on February 25, March 4 and 11. Instructor: Maria Puhach. Pre-registration is required.
