OF PASTA, PLAST, AND CHRISTMAS FAIR!
ANOTHER FABULOUS SUCCESS!
And this time we brought the camera!
Oseredok is on a roll! With the successes of the Kupalo fundraiser this past July, and the opening of the highly-praised Plast centenary exhibition last month, Oseredok scored a grand slam with a sold-out Dinner at DeLuca's fundraising event on Friday, November 2nd!
In a cheerful and friendly atmosphere guests enjoyed a delicious three-course Italian dinner with fine wine, and the music of accordionist Myron Kurjewicz. And all took their chances at four terrific raffle prizes!
It was the perfect evening to share with old and new friends, a lovely way to start a weekend, and a great way to support Oseredok!

TELLING THE STORY OF PLAST...AND ABANDONED SECRETS
WE ARE SET TO TELL THE STORY
THE STORY OF PLAST - 100 YEARS OF THE UKRAINIAN SCOUTING MOVEMENT
Opens this Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm
We are also delighted to present an exhibition of paintings by young Winnipeg Plast members ages 6 to 11. Each canvas is an expression of the child's own particular associations with and ideas about Plast, its activities and experiences.
JUST ARRIVED IN THE BOUTIQUE
THE MUSEUM OF ABANDONED SECRETS
by OKSANA ZABUZHKO
Spanning sixty tumultuous years of Ukrainian history, this multigenerational saga weaves a dramatic and intricate web of love, sex, friendship, and death. At its center: three women linked by the abandoned secrets of the past—secrets that refuse to remain hidden.
While researching a story, journalist Daryna unearths a worn photograph of Olena Dovgan, a member of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army killed in 1947 by Stalin’s secret police. Intrigued, Daryna sets out to make a documentary about the extraordinary woman—and unwittingly opens a door to the past that will change the course of the future. For even as she delves into the secrets of Olena’s life, Daryna grapples with the suspicious death of a painter who just may be the latest victim of a corrupt political power play.
From the dim days of World War II to the eve of Orange Revolution, The Museum of Abandoned Secrets is an “epic of enlightening force” that explores the enduring power of the dead over the living.
The book is available now at Oseredok Boutique!
